Iron Horse was the design architect for the design/build MATOC for the San Marcos Training Center in partnership with WH Pacific (Richard Frederkind) and Emerson Construction.

IHA was responsible for all of the architectural design and detailing for this proposal. IHA also performed the preliminary LEED Silver Certification review and LEED action plan for the project. This project exemplifies IHA’s expertise with BIM modeling, which was used to produce the documentation required for the MATOC and for bidding processes. IHA was able to provide a high level of information in a relatively short time frame through the integrated BIM system and the information that is coded into the model in compliance with the Program Requirements.

This type of architectural service can be used for new construction to review costs and design of new facilities as well as to document existing facilities. The improved communication that is derived from this process allows the Owner to easily visualize the concepts and alternatives, as well as allowing the estimator comprehensive information for their cost estimates. The design team has more capability to visualize and coordinate services to and within the building prior to construction to cut down on subsequent change orders and cost issues.
