IHA provided architectural and engineering services for the OCS protection of the iconic Millennium Bridge in Denver Colorado. This work included coordination with several agencies including, RTD, the City and County of Denver, the bridge owner Central Platt Valley Metropolitan District and the original Engineer Arup.
IHA was responsible for coordinating the design of the OCS protection as well as the Projectile protection protecting the tracks from objects thrown from the pedestrian bridge above. This was a complicated project because of the strict design requirements to work seamlessly with the existing bridge architecture and engineering and travel the thin line between the bridge Owner and RTD.
Ultimately, compromise was created and both sides were satisfied with the final design and engineering. This project represents they type of project complexity that will be inherent in the new DIA South Terminal Expansion Project.
